Windows 7, Server 2008-R2, NTDLL, KB2545627

When testing AADS on "slow" system, either slow because it is old hardware, or slow because the VM does not get enough CPU cycles from the Host, we have encountered the problem as indicated by KB2545627. The Hotfix did work OK for us.

Please note : It can take several minutes before it reports "Installed". Be patient when installing this Hotfix and wait for it to finish. After the reboot, check that the hotfix is installed:


A multithreaded application might crash in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

On a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you use a multithreaded application that uses a heap. In this situation, the application might crash unexpectedly because of a race condition. Additionally, the following error is logged in the Application log:

Event ID: 1000
Source: Application error
Faulting application name: xxx
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, xxxException code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: xxxx
Faulting process id: xxx
Faulting application start time: xxxx
Faulting application path: xxx

Resolution

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
