Neoware, Wise, 2x.com or other Thin Clients

Neoware and Wise (mentioned here as examples) are selling ready-to-go terminal clients or so called Thin Clients. These devices can be used to connect to a server running AADS Terminal Server.

When you consider these devices, think of the following issue: Quite often these terminal clients or Thin Clients are based on Linux. Using Linux and rdesktop or freerdp  on your thin client is a good idea. However, running an old version of Linux and an old version of rdesktop might not be a good idea. An old version of rdesktop implies that the remote disk, printer, smartcard or comm port might not work, because older versions of rdesktop do not support these functions. So, you should check the version of Linux and rdesktop on the Thin Client. Sometimes we see outdated versions like Redhat 6 and rdesktop 1.2.x.

Another issue with those terminal clients is that they run well known operating systems like Windows or Linux, so they need also to be updated like Windows or Linux get updated. The average update-frequency of Windows is once a month (Tuesday, patchday). The average update-frequency of Linux can be even higher, depending on your distri.
Some companies selling those terminal clients never talk about updates. So, after two months of buying, you are running clients with an out-of-date operating systems.....

Can I use terminal devices like Neoware, Wise or 2x.com ?

Yes, you can. Any client device that works with Microsoft Terminal Server should also work with the AADS Terminal Server because we all uses the T128 and Microsoft RDP-protocol.
