Server 2016

First AADS build for Server 2016 and Server 2016 Essentials.

Update Application Control

It is possible to assign 1 or more Applications to a Set, and assign Sets to users or groups:

Application Control is not available for Windows 8.x and Server 2012 .

Default Applications and Sets

An easy "wizard" generates default Applications and Sets. This can be used, for example, when working with AADS Demo and if you want to start with "exploring" what AADS Application Control can do for you:

• Default Applications and Sets as shown here is available from Windows XP to Windows 7, Server 2003, Server 2008, Server 2008-R2.
• Windows 10 and Server 2016 have a similar function: "Optimize".
• Windows 8.x and Server 2012 do not offer Application Control.

Optimize

"Optimize" is similar to "Default Applications and Sets" for Windows 7 and older, but comes with more options, which might be required for Windows 10 and Server 2016:

Windows 10 is perfectly suitable for multi-user, multi-session, multi-desktop, except for this Windows 10 Tile Start Menu. The Windows 10 Tile Start Menu is a big resource hog and it will noticeable slow down the Server with 20 or more users. And besides the noticeable performance issues with the Windows 10 Tile Start Menu, we also think that our business customers do not have a need for it:

• We think that Business Customers who do need a Terminal Server, have little or no interest in the Windows Tile Start Menu, and have little or no interest in the Microsoft AppStore.
• It is solely Microsoft which has interest in the Windows Tile Start Menu and the Microsoft AppStore. It is an attempt to copy the business model from Apple and Google, by selling out the privacy of customers for the purpose of advertising business.

Our interest is selling a good working Terminal Server to Business customers, and therefore we do offer our customers the option to run Windows 10 and Server 2016 without the Windows Tile Start Menu.

When the Windows Tile Start Menu is disabled, all users will see a simple Start Menu:

The details of this simple Start Menu are configurable with Application Control.

Default Screen Saver settings

The default Windows Screen Saver settings as they can be found in Windows Server, are applies also to WXP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10:

Default Screen Saver settings are applied, the very first time when an user does login and his profile with homefolders, settings, etc, is created.
