License

The License tabpage shows the License type and License Number. The AADS License Numbers has 2 formats:

• 12 positions in the range A..Z and 0..9. Example: 12AB 34CD 56EF (this is not a valid number)
• 18 positions, containing only letters A..Z. Example: EKOHIGJZ-TTMJKDFG-EWPLKAQR (this is also not a valid number)

AADS Maintenance Control Full, will show you the License Number in the 18 position format.

AADS Maintenance Control Demo, will show you "Demo" as the License Number.

Offline License Type

The Full, Paid version of AADS Terminal Server can use both an "Offline" and "Online License Type".
In case an "Offline License Type" is being used, it is shown as follows:

The Offline License Type does not need Internet access and does not need to be re-newed.

Online License Type

In the example above, a Demo License is shown, which is always of the "Online License Type".
A Demo License is valid for 60 days. The End-date is shown.

Automatic License Update, Online License Type

Approximately once a week the Online License will be renewed.
Default updating the "Online License" is done automatically.

Automatic License Re-Install, Online License Type

In case the Server changes, the License needs to be re-installed.
In case an Online License is used, the re-install of the AADS License can be done automatically.

When NOT to use Automatic License Re-Install, Online License Type

• VM's are copied "all the time" and are started on random PC's, for example a Test-PC of an Administrator.
  • It is so easy to copy and clone and run VM's...so why not do that...
• When the VM-copy is started, AADS sees that it is used on a different Server.
• The AADS License will be re-installed and associated with this random PC/Server.
• The AADS License on the real Production Server will be invalidated automatically, because:
  • 1 Server, 1 License. This is our main License Term (and business).
• The Production Server will stop working...

When to use Automatic License Re-Install, Online License Type

• VM-copies are made.
• The VM-copy is started on some other Production Server, because the current Production Server or the current AADS-VM has a problem and is stopped.
• VM-copies are not randomly started on random PC's.

HTTP(S) Proxy

Optional you can specify a IPv4 HTTP(S)-Proxy server (IPv6 Proxy is not supported...)
The proxy server is used for sending the License Request.

• Enter the IPA or DNS address of the HTTP(S) proxy server.
• Enter the portnumber of the HTTP(S) proxy server.

Manual License Re-New, Online License Type

In case it is preferred not to connect the AADServer to the Internet, it is possible to use a browser for the re-newing of the "Online License".
The AADServer can be disconnected from the Internet.

In such a case,

• de-select Automatic License Update,
• de-select Automatic License Re-Install,

and click on the Apply-button.

And when the AADServer needs to re-new the temporary Online License, it will be shown as follows:

When the "Online License" needs to be re-newed, a "LIC REQUEST" will be shown.

Copy-and-paste the complete "LIC REQUEST" in to a browser, into the "License Request" procedure on our website:

Click on the "submit-button", and after a few seconds, a "LIC REPLY" is shown:

Copy the whole "LIC Reply" into AADS Control, and click on the "Set License" button:

Click on the "Set License" button.

Within a few minutes, the "LIC Reply" is processed by the AADServer, and such is shown as follows:

Notifications

Be sure to read the paragraph about Notifications . When Notifications are enabled, the AADServer will sent an email to the Administrator when the Manual License Re-New procedure needs to be done.

The Administrator can expect 1 email once a week.
